What happens after you get in touch
1. We work out which SAQ applies to you — before you pay anything
There are several Self-Assessment Questionnaire types, and merchants are routinely put on the wrong one. The right answer depends on how card data reaches you: a card machine on the counter, a payment page hosted by Stripe or PayPal, card details read out over the phone, or some combination. Tell us how you take payments and we will tell you which questionnaire you actually need — even if the answer is that you do not need us.
2. You get a fixed price, not a quote that moves
Our fee is £100 plus VAT a year, whichever SAQ you land on. That covers the assessment being completed and filed, the policies it asks you to evidence, quarterly scanning where your setup requires it, and renewals each year. We are not paid more for putting you on a harder assessment, which is precisely why we have no reason to.
3. We file it with your acquirer and keep it current
Compliance is submitted to whoever processes your card payments — Worldpay, Barclaycard, Lloyds Cardnet, Elavon and the rest. We deal with that submission and with the renewal when it comes round, so the non-compliance fee stops coming off your statement and stays off it.
Useful things to have to hand
None of this is required to make an enquiry, but having it speeds things up considerably:
- Who your card processor or acquirer is, and your merchant ID if you have it to hand
- Roughly how many card transactions you take a year
- How customers pay you — in person, online, over the phone, or a mix
- Any compliance or non-compliance fee currently showing on your merchant statement
